Jeanne Marc 80s Vintage Jumpsuit Retro Futuristic S XS
This vintage 1980s jumpsuit is high style 80s, from Jeanne Marc, a San Francisco based company who made beautiful and expensive clothes that, in my experience, frequently have a wonderfully quirky edge! The bodice has a vaguely military flair with the quilted curvy faux epaulettes (they’re extensions of a back yoke) over padded shoulders. The romantically full bodice and long sleeves are gathered onto the epaulettes at the top and the shirred elastic waist panel at the waist. Pants are fairly loose at the top, pegged at the bottom with sideseam inset pockets. The epaulettes, cuffs, front placket and collar band are edged in dark gold.
Labeled XS, 4/6. The suit is not pinned on my model who usually wears a 2-6. Waist measurements are given unstretched/stretched.
|Pant bottom circumference||13"||33|
Labeled a rayon/poly blend. The primary fabric is medium weight, with a smooth almost polished surface. The color is deep rich blue, with screen printed black circular swirls overlaid with gold and interspersed with tiny triangles of gold dots. The collar, shoulders, cuffs and waist are done in a crepe type fabric, black with scattered gold dots. Piping is dark gold dull satin. And in a small quirky touch, the cuffs are backed in a swirling print using blue, aqua and purple.
Jeanne Marc, made in USA.
The bodice unbuttons to the waist using five domed brushed metal buttons in dark gold, with one more fastening the tabbed collarband. larger matching buttons are used for the wrist cuffs.
I see two subtle pale discolored areas on the left leg front above the knee – see closeup photo but it is hard to discern even in person. The jumpsuit has thread loops for a wide belt, but it doesn’t have a belt and doesn’t really need one – if you want to gild the lily, add a gold or bronze or black belt from your own closet.
