60s Vintage BOMBSHELL Icy Blue Long Party Dress Beads M
This vintage 1960s evening dress is very Shirley McClaine! Sheath style with princess seamed bodice further fitted with darts. A little above the natural waist, the princess seaming opens into two soft pleats in front to de-accentuate the waist. The scooped neckline is thickly ornamented with silver flecked soutache braid in an irregular sawtooth pattern with sprays of tiny clear glass beads and pearls in between. Dangling large faceted beads that drip from skinny beaded strings add movement and extra bling. The rest of the dress is accented by more scattered curves of tiny beads and more dangles of large beads. The dress is fully lined.
|Length from shoulder seam||52"||132|
Tag says “Trevira mit schurwolle” – trevira is vintage polyester and schurwoole is German for virgin wool. The fabric is tightly woven with a slightly crisp sheen. Color is ice blue. The dress is lined in pale blue acetate. Small beads appear to be glass, large beads are most likely plastic.
No maker's tag.
Nylon zipper in back.
No stains, holes or tears. Chances are there may be some missing beads, although on inspection, I don’t see anything noticeable. There are two or three fabric “pulls” on the left side of the skirt at knee level and below. Some minor marks at the bottom of the skirt.
