40s Vintage Rayon Print Swing Dress L Draped Brown Yellow Green
These rayon dresses are getting scarcer all the time, especially in not-black! The cap-sleeved bodice has a softly draped bateau neckline achieved with a rays of darting at the shoulders. The front waistline dips into a deep vee left of center - the skirt is gathered a bit near the bottom half of the vee. A narrow self-fabric sash is sewn onto the natural-level waist in back to wrap and tie in front. There are No tags. It's possible that this was custom sewn at an excellent skill level.

FABRIC/COLORS:
Cool rayon, the kind that steams and drapes beautifully. Large scale floral print in two shades of yellow/gold with cream and forest green against a warm brown background.
CLOSURES:
Metal sideseam zipper and a shorter metal zipper at the back of the neck.
CONDITION:
It looks like the hem was let down at some point - there is currently zero hem allowance and I see subtle wear lines about 2.5" from the bottom of the skirt.
I have repaired a small hole at the left waist just behind the zipper where the attached sash wore at the underneath fabric. The hole was linear, a little more than 1/2" long. The closeups show the area before repair, and then after repair front and back. I used a small iron-on patch to stabilize the area and provide support to re-attach the last section of the sash.
The dress doesn't have shoulder pads and I think it should. Most of the photos were taken with a pair of modern shoulder pads set in place - the last photo shows the dress without them. Since you may prefer the padless look, the dress will come as-is so you can choose.
