Antique Vintage 20s 30s Art DECO Crepe Day Dress L

$ 325.00

A truly amazing dress, with so many wonderful details! Bodice is styled with batwing sleeves that narrow at the wrist, and a huge collar anchored by buttons on one side and fully functional bound buttonholes on the other. The lighter colored fabric in the center of the bodice is somewhat like a dickie, being open along the sides, which allows some flexibility in bust size. It has vertical pintucking and two rows of small self fabric covered buttons. It is part of the garment at the waist and is lightly tacked in place at the shoulder seam inside. The skirt has four gores, and the illusion of large horizontal pockets - they are actually very small pockets set into a larger section of horizontal seaming. The collar, pockets and belt buckle are set off beautifully with celluoid buttons and buckle - done in a swirling shade of caramel, set on the diagonal and accented with carved lines.

Size: No size label. Bust measurement is difficult due to the design of the sleeves. I usually wear a modern size 12 and when I tried it on, I did not feel constricted.

Measurements

Inches Centimeters

Fabric/Colors

The fabric is medium weight, looks like crepe from the front, but from the back, you can tell it's actually a jersey type knit. Primary color is coffee brown, with accent color of cafe au lait.

Tag

A tag in the sideseam of the skirt says "Logan Garment Co., Mfrs of Utahweare, Logan Utah"

Closures

The dress slips on over the head, with the neckline corners of the "dickie" section unsnapping to allow your head to fit through. A self fabric belt with just one buttonhole, so you may want to restitch the buckle attachment to your waist size.

Condition

Very good to excellent. I see a few tiny rust colored stains on the lighter colored front in amongst the pintucks and buttons - see close-up. Not sure if they can be removed or not, but they're not glaring, given the color of the dress. I have repaired a section of the back hem that was coming down. I found a single tiny hole in the back of the skirt on the left, not visible until I held it up to the sunlight because of the texture of the fabric.
