Begedor was better known as Beged-Or, which means "leather clothing" in Hebrew. They were an Israeli company who made the most fabulous leather garments imaginable in the 60s and 70s. They could be considered the North Beach of their day. And while North Beach had Michael Hoban, Beged-Or had Calvin Klein, Georgio Armani and Moschino working for them at various times, or so it is rumored. This coat is an elegant and timeless example of their work. Notched lapels, princess seaming with vertical darting on the upper bodice for curvier fit, slightly dropped waist seam with horizontal pocket flaps for vertically placed bound pockets. Buttonholes are also bound, no easy feat when working with leather. The coat sports a half belt in back. |

Condition |
Very good. The leather is supple and without stains holes or tears. The only surface scuffing is at the edges of the sleeves, very minimal on the left,a bit more on the right (see close-up). One of the leather covered buttons is significantly worn and will need to be either recovered or replaced. There is a 2" hem to the leather which should give ample material for the recover if desired. If the buyer prefers to replace all the buttons, I can include a set of textured plastic buttons that are the right color and very close to the same size - see the other close-up for an idea. |
