New Old Stock, aka “Deadstock”, means vintage that may have been tried on but has never been worn. New Old Stock is hard to find! Most NOS comes from stores that went out of business and didn’t deal with unsold stock for a long time, in some cases, many decades. Another source of NOS is from the closets of shopaholics who bought more clothes than they were able to wear – eventually, those closets get cleaned out, and amazing things can surface! Most New Old Stock has tags attached, although sometimes tags have fallen off or otherwise been separated from the garment. NOS items will not show signs of wear, but that does not guarantee mint condition. Sometimes storage conditions have created issues, so it’s still important to review the condition report.
